about

the day the pandemic started to feel real for me, the band had a gig in greenpoint. this was in march 2020, the same day that large gatherings were banned.

it was eerie. the headliner didn't show up. we weren't sure if we should be there either. we tried to feign normalcy, but it was impossible avoid talking (or worrying) about the elephant in the room. from what i remember, we played a decent show, and our crowd was definitely not a large gathering.

later that night, with the tvs at the bar playing the evening news, it felt like my normal life was disintegrating into some weird nightmare. despite all my hoping, the pandemic was absolutely going to happen in new york like it was happening in other parts of the world.

in the coming weeks and months (and years), i wrote songs. they gave me purpose and let me have fun creatively during some difficult times. this collection is those songs.

at one time, i had hoped to workshop some of these songs into a 'finished' record. but it would be hard to work on them at this point without thinking of cuomo snacks, disinfected groceries, or rapid tests. i'm proud of what i did, and i'm ready to close the chapter on this era of songs and be open to whatever comes next.

thanks for listening, and i hope you enjoy!
